Comment: Proffesor Spreyer is really chill. Lectures are a little boring but his class is interesting as a whole and the exams are not very difficult. Definately reccomend it for a breadth course.

Comment: I personally thought this class was boring but it was doable if you did all the assignments and skimmed the readings. It was a pretty easy way to get the AC requirement out of the way. Kurt is also a really nice guy and pretty passionate about the subject.

Comment: Kurt is a good professor. He is really knowledgeable about the subject. However, this class is a lot of work for a class of the same units. A lot of readings (although no one does them)

Comment: She is quite passionate about her subject. Most people took this class to satisfy a requirement, such as myself, but it was not boring at the very least. Do not buy the readers new, she pretty much uses the same ones every year and they are really expensive. Exams were incredibly straightforward, and the subjects presented were interesting and eye-opening.

Comment: Easy course. I don't believe people that claim they 'don't do any reading' since the assignments and discussions are (often) based off the readings. The readers were expensive though and i found myself just looking up the articles online. Exams were easy and straightforward.

Comment: Seems like this semester was the same as last year: two midterms, a final exam, a project/paper, a TON of readings, and some misc. written responses. Midterms took weeks to grade. Wasted ~$150 on the 2-volume reader set of stuff that the course staff was too lazy to put online. Don't think we ended up reading everything in the readers either. Felt like a history class. I got the feeling that most people were taking this class to satisfy a requirement. You can easily get by with (sometimes) going to lectures/sections and maybe a bit of Wikipedia cramming before the exams.

Comment: Probably one of the best, most enthusiastic and helpful professors out there. Spreyer really loves his subject and his enthusiasm is contagious. He enjoys leading discussions throughout his lectures and is always open to answer questions. If needed, he is more than willing to reschedule a paper or exam date to fit your schedule if you ask him. He offers a lot of extra credit, and the topics this course discusses have something for everyone. Basically the course is like the AP United States History class we've all taken in high school, but the topics are much more specific and engaging. A must take, manageable A, for the AC requirement in my opinion, where you will learn a lot along the way.

Comment: I can't really say enough about this class. I'm always recommending it to people as it satisfies the AC requirement, one of 3 possible breadth requirements, and is an easy A! Finney was a great professor! She has a ton of personality and tries to make the class more enjoyable. GSIs were helpful and seemed like they graded things easily. Maybe 4 or 5 times during the semester we were given a prompt and we had to write a one page response in a week (more than manageable and graded mostly on having completed the assignment). We also had a final paper/project (your choice, 5 page paper or a project) which also was graded easily. Reading wise, there is a TON of reading. Too much really. But after a few days of doing the reading, you realize that Finney is actually going over the readings in her lecture. Yes, you can get away with doing none of the reading for the class! If you need the readers, purchase them second hand because they're really too expensive. Oh, 2 midterms and a final as well. But they were super easy. Finney ONLY tests on what she says in class. If you take good notes and show up to class you'll be golden! 1 hour of review before each midterm, 3 hours of review before the final, and a decent final paper gave me an A in the class.
