If you’re like many Amazon sellers, you might just use the pictures your supplier uses and call it good.

While it’s true, most suppliers will have professional pictures of products you can use; it might be better to take your own.

Amazon product photos serve many different functions, the primary one being to showcase all of the good sides of your products to customers. Make sure that you’re showing only the best side and nothing else with these tips!

Did you know that 93% of consumers consider images essential to their buying decisions?

People learn not only by reading but through visuals as well.

For this reason, your product images need to look the best that they can.

While it is often recommended you have some professional work done, if you’re on a budget, or like having more control, you can take some amazing pictures with your camera and a makeshift studio.

Know the Requirements

First thing’s first, you need to know Amazon’s photo requirements before you waste an afternoon taking pictures that won’t work.

Beyond the file requirements, one of the most important requirements on the list is the specification of a pure white background.

When people browse on Amazon, they want a consistent experience. If some sellers use black backgrounds and others white, it will become a mess. Choosing a white background also highlights the product features better.

As far as the size of your images, Amazon recommends using images of at least 1,000 pixels in length or width. I’ve had better success pushing it to the max at 1,500 pixels.

This way, should you decide to use your images in print or other applications, you’ll already have the high-resolution images you need.

Don’t go over 1,500 however as Amazon will scale it down automatically which doesn’t always look the best.

The Image Types

As an Amazon seller, you won’t simply take one white background photo and call it good.

Instead, you must maximize the number of images you can use to showcase different angles of your product.

Depending on the type of product it is, you should typically have one plain white background image, along with an in-context image.

For instance, if you’re selling watches, you should have a picture of it on the wrist of someone so customers can visualize how it will look on them.

Like this, for example:

Ideally, you should have around a dozen images of your products. Most of them can be product-only images to help customers learn more about the product at a glance.

Depending on the type of product you’re selling, you might need a dozen or so just to capture the product at every angle.

Then, you should have one of two in-context images to help build the emotional bond customers have with your items. If the images are exciting enough, customers should be able to picture themselves using your items.

So, if you decide to go the DIY route, there are a few pieces of equipment that you’ll need.

Njit conference. First, you’ll need a background. I would suggest using a plain white sheet that’s as wrinkle-free as possible.

Next, you’ll need a secondary light source. A table lamp can work well, but if you plan to take a bunch of images in-house, you might want to invest in one or two studio lights.

They’re relatively inexpensive and can significantly boost your image quality.

Finally, you’ll need a camera. These days, you can take some really professional images using only a smartphone, and you can edit the images on your phone to perfect them.

Amazon Fba Product Photography Software

Even so, if you have a professional camera and software, you might want to choose that since that will give you the best results.

From there, all you have to do is decide the angles you’d like to use. Take as many as you can while you have the product set up and choose your favorites after the photo shoot.

Finding the perfect product photos can take some experimentation, so you don’t be afraid to try different angles or edits.
